Over the past couple of months, I've made CheckOutMyCards my most frequented card shop. It's a great site with amazing deals and reasonable shipping charges, so check it out if you haven't already. The main reason why I check out their cards is to find some more obscure Rockies cards. Now that I'm no longer in Denver, it's tough to find some solid cards at the local shops. CheckOutMyCards came through in the clutch for me, yet again, and I picked up a good 5-10 autos/relics in my last order for under $40. Not bad, eh?I'm just going to share one tonight, but this one is among my favorite cards in the Rockies collection. It features Clint Barmes, the Troy Tulowitzki of 2006 prior to a small mishap walking up the steps, who continues to be one of my favorite all-around ball players in The Bigs. I've sung his praises on here countless times, but I love this guy and always gain a lot of satisfaction when picking up cards of his. This is a white autograph from the 2007 Topps Turkey Red collection. A very classy card, a very classy auto, and a very classy player. Barmes is lost in the shuffle with the Rox as he's stuck behind Tulo at short and platooning with Jeff Baker, Ian Stewart and Omar Quintanilla at second. He was actually rumored to be part of a trade offer to Baltimore in July for Jeremy Guthrie. His 'power' numbers (I use that term very loosely) could have been a flash in the pan in '06, but breaking a collarbone can never help. Clint was a 10th round pick by the Rockies in the 2000 amateur draft and aside from consistency, this guy's arm at short is second to none... well, second to Tulo of course.
Clint has some great cards and I hope to add to the collection soon. I'm at about 25 cards right now, but if you have any in your collection, please shoot me an email and perhaps we can work out a trade.
More Rockies autos (no, not Rocky's Autos) and Tulos to come.
That's all I got...
